On Hiatus

Why am I still keeping this journal? I hardly post anything anymore and there might only be 3 or 4 people reading this stuff anyway.
I've joined the twitter crowd for posting random brainfarts. I also activated the RSS on Vanity-Circus.com, so people can get the latest updates and sketch junk. My DeviantArt subscription ran out again, but although I like the new features, I don't think I'll renew it anytime soon. Since I'm not posting fan art anymore, my gallery is mostly ignored (but kuddos to those who still regulary comment and fav. It's a little encouragement and makes me feel "not all worthless").
Anyway, I don't really need this journal for posting updates n' stuff, because there are so many other and better options available.
But Lj is still good for some private community-stuff and there are still two or three personal journals that I enjoy reading.
So, I guess this journal is now officially on hiatus. But I'm not gone ;).

lol... wußte gar nicht, dass ich einen Zirkus leite, aber laut diesem Ortkatalog hat der Zirkus Vanity gerade seine Zelte aufgeschlagen. Ich hoffe mir stehen demnächst keine showsüchtigen Familien oder arbeitslose Clowns vor der Haustür...
(PS.: wieder ein Grund, weshalb ich die gesetzlich vorgeschriebene Impressumsangabe auf privaten Webseiten zum kotzen finde.)

Yesterday was Vanguard 2^nd year Birthday party. I know why I suck at parties (even virtual ones). I spend 45min SEARCHING for it (the announcement, that was spammed OVER AND OVER in the general chat was: Meet us at Ahgram). Well, VG cities happen to be huge and the forum announcement said that it was in the outskirts of the city. So, I ran 3 times 'round the city walls and through endless city streets, until someone shouted that it would be near the docks. (Btw, yes I DID ask people, but I got no reply from them. Pffzzzz. But maybe they didn't know either.)
So, I arrived at the last 10 minutes. Party time. :o

We could throw cakes and launch pretty firework, and every 2-3 minutes we would be enchanted, like into huge skeleton birds, or gnomes or begin to levitate.
Uhm, kinda fun. But I still don't get it XD. (Killing extra strong mobs is just a bit more exciting than watching fireworks in lag-town)

Now, the one nice thing about it was, to finally see PEOPLE in VG, because the game feels a bit empty at times.
Of course I love doing stuff solo. And there's a lot solo content and a lot to explore (but I'm still a low lvl). But a bit more "life" would be nice.

Fishing has become an established activity in MMOs. But how about "phishing"?

Well, I'm usually the first one who recognizes those nasty scam mails, but this time they almost got me.

Subject:Message: Your player account has been opened

Hallo Sandra Hirschmann,

I admit it, I clicked the link WITHOUT THINKING!!! And it was only thanks to my E-Mail client (Firebird) that I didn't complete the request.
Why did I click the link in the first place?? Well, it was 8 AM in the morning, I had a DaoC account once and woah, free gaming time? Let's read on the homepage, what's going on *click click*.

*facepalm*

Of course it's still stupid to blindly trust such a non-informative mail, but I'm even more worried about the 'target audience' of this special phishing attack. It's not the old person, or the average middle adged man and woman. No, this time, it's also targeting KIDS, because they make a large part of the MMO gaming community. So, for the first time I mean it serious, when I say: THINK ABOUT THE CHILDREN!

Now, I was actually waiting for a big fat warning on the official homepage of DaoC. Of course, they have nothing to do with it, but their name was abused, and I don't know how many kiddies or other stupid adults (like me) will fall for it. There aren't much information on this on Google either (the first thing you shoud do after receiving a suspicious e-mail: google for it!), so it would be really good, if DaoC itself would step in. But that would also mean, to modify their homepage (which would look BAD) and to pay someone to update their homepage. Some hotline guys will surely have to deal with lots of incoming questions - that's all money DaoC has to pay to work against the scammers. And I'm sure they don't like it... if my name was abused by scammers, I would be pretty pissed.

I like to go one step further. Scamming/Phising IS illegal. We all know that. But I've never heard of a scammer being arrested and put in jail. I want a big fat news message on the major TV channel about a group of scammers being put in jail for 20+ years! Along with all those Spammers. Yeah, lock them away with muderers, rapers and pedophiles. Push them all in one cell and throw away the key. I'm so freaking sick of it.

Auf 3sat ging es bei Scobel heute um sexuelle Lustlosigkeit und ihre Ursachen in der modernen Gesellschaft. Und was wurde in der letzten Minute der Sendung eingeblendet? Eine furchtbar schnulzige Szene aus Twilight, weil der Film bei den bekloppten Amis anscheinend eine neue "Nicht for der Ehe"-Bewegung ins Rollen gebracht hat oO.
Twilight bei Scobel... jetzt muß ich mir die Augen auswaschen.

Ich bin beinahe schockiert über die Tatsache, dass bei einer Umfrage einer wissenschaftlichen Sendung (3sat, nano) fast die Hälfte der Teilnehmer der Ansicht sind, die Artenvielfalt sei durch göttlichen Eingriff entstanden. Der Kreationismus und das den paradox klingenden Namen tragende "Intelligent Design" breiten sich auch in Deutschland aus - traurig, traurig.
Aber was erwartet man auch von einem Volk, das sich allabendlich von D-Promis im Dschungelcamp, Big Brother Blöderie und Paris Hiltons Magersuchtwetten berieseln läßt. Da ist im Hirn doch gar kein Platz mehr, um eigene Denkvorgänge zu starten.
Ne ne, der Herrgott wirds schon richten. Gute Nacht, Deutschland.
